For this 3D project I wanted the theme to relate to the iSword Katana I modeled late last year. I at first i wanted a Japanese room with a modern twist. However my mentor decided to set the bar to more challenging and where i can utilize my creativity and artistic liberties toward this project. The theme was then transformed to a fusion of Futurism and Japanese style bedroom. Concept art art from the franchise Star Wars and the concept artist Rob Cobbs became key influences on the design of the interior. The gallery post shown here are progress shots of the developed bedroom done in 3Ds Max. The pieces of furniture as well with the form of the wall construction started of with splines and/or primitive shapes using various techniques of extrusion and editing of the polygons to develop vision and detail of the scene.
So far the furniture in the room consists of flying oriental lanterns, an electric Kato instrument, my iSword model, computing area, television and bed that are compact inside the walls. I also made the window reminiscent to the traditional sliding doors of Japanese homes
I wish to push the scene further by including more furniture related the Japanese culture and arrange the scene to give off a natural feel that someone actively lives there. I will also look at the concept work for Blade Runner, suggested by my teacher, to gain a stronger vision of the final piece.
